AlkathonCome join us for an evening fun, food and fellowship at the Alkathon on May 17, 2008, 5:30 pm, at the Springfield Community Center. The covered dish dinner will start at 5:30 pm. The meat and drinks will be provided so please bring a covered dish or dessert if you can. We will have an AA and an Al-Anon speaker and there will be raffles throughout the evening; if you have something to contribute to the raffle please bring it along. Lots of opportunities for service work here! The convention will be held at the Boardwalk Beach Resort, Panama City Beach, September 11 - 14, 2008 and there are a lot of committees that need volunteers. We'll also need help setting up, tidying about and manning and caring for the hospitality room. If you're interested please come to the next planning meeting on March 9, 2008 at 3pm at the YANA Club. Click here to download a 2008 Area Convention flyer/registration form. Some background info: AA is divided into 93 areas in the United States and Canada. We're in Area 1 which is comprised of Alabama and Northwest Florida. The areas are further broken down into districts with Bay County and Port St. Joe making up District 15. Anyway, the Area 1 Assembly asked for a volunteer to host the 2008 convention and we stood up...and of course they were very happy because they love coming to the beach!
